Rangers poised to make big announcement

Rangers are poised to announce Ianis Hagi as their first summer signing.

The Glasgow giants are in advanced talks with Belgian club Genk over converting the attacker’s loan into a permanent deal.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Rangers are very hopeful of soon being in a position to reveal Hagi has joined on a long-term contract.

Romanian agent Giovani Becali has claimed the deal has been finalised at £4million and hailed the Ibrox giants as an “extraordinary” club.

Rangers have stayed quiet but could announce the full-time signing of the attacking midfielder, 21,this week.

He joined on deadline day in January on a loan-to-buy deal, with the Light Blues announcing they had an “exclusive” option to sign him at the end of his temporary spell.

Hagi is now in line to become the second player in nine months to join permanently for a huge fee after impressing on loan.

Ryan Kent signed from Liverpool last September for the club’s second highest ever fee after his initial spell ended with the Scottish young player of the year award.

Like his fellow attacker, Hagi is young, exciting, talented and with his best years ahead of him.

The son of all-time great Gheorghe Hagi has already had some magic moments for the Gers and showed he can be the answer to their right-flank problem.

The 10-times Romania international has made 12 appearances for Rangers, scoring three goals and supplying two assists.
