The journalist claimed the Rangers board are still backing Beale to be successful, but he is now just one bad result away from the bosses making a call on his long-term future at Ibrox.
Jones also addressed the rumours surrounding an approach for former Chelsea boss Graham Potter, which he claims are not “strictly true”, but did admit he may have been sounded out as a possible option.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT on 14 August, Jones claimed: “It feels like a big weekend for Beale, and he has to make the most of this opportunity to record a comfortable win against the league’s bottom club.
“The unrest around him has been there for a couple of weeks now. I’m told that the reports around an approach for Potter are not strictly true, but I do get the impression that he might well have been sounded out about how he would feel about the prospect of this job.
“To be honest, that would not be a surprise, as Beale is probably only one bad result away from the board deciding on his future.
“They don’t want to give up on this. They want him to be successful, but the fans are starting to get restless, so he needs to storm out of the traps after this international break to prove he is the man for this job.”
Beale needs results now
It doesn’t matter how he gets them, any concerns over the playing style at Ibrox have been brushed aside (at least for now), Beale just needs points on the board, and he needs them now. A visit to St Johnstone, the league’s bottom side, will provide him with a good chance at a fast restart following the international break.
As Jones shared, the Englishman is now just one bad away from the bosses at Ibrox pulling the trigger on his managerial spell, so he needs to figure out a way to get wins over the line and get his players performing to a higher level than they have shown so far.
Pressure continues to grow from the stands, with the Ibrox crowd especially unhappy with the displays on the pitch. At times, results can be excused if there is a clear understanding of what the side are trying to do. For Beale at Rangers, there is neither.
The backing from the board as things stand will prove positive for the manager, having also been heavily backed in the summer, but another poor result could see those good opinions turn sour very quickly.
