‘Blow’ – McManus shares Rangers v Motherwell prediction after news out of Ibrox

Tam McManus says being without Oscar Cortes is “a blow” for Rangers, but one he expects them to cope with against Motherwell.

January signing Cortes has been ruled out indefinitely as a result of an injury he sustained in the 2-1 midweek victory at Kilmarnock.

Todd Cantwell is also absent for Saturday’s (2 March) clash with Motherwell, but Hibernian forward McManus is tipping the Gers to prevail.

“Cortes has picked up an injury, which is a blow, and Cantwell is out,” McManus said on PLZ Soccer’s Saturday Preview Show [2 March, 0m 46s].

“Their squad is getting tested now with European games coming up. They’re on a great run, picking up wins even when not playing well. I think they’ll win 3-0.”

Rangers heavy favourites against Motherwell at Ibrox

Cortes has made a positive start to life at Ibrox as he scored and assisted in last week’s 5-0 win over Hearts.

The attacker’s lay-off is therefore a blow, but it is not the end of the world, even if the likes of Cantwell and Abdallah Sima are also out.

Philippe Clement has plenty of other options to choose from, with Ross McCausland the most viable option to start out on the left.

Rangers have brushed aside pretty much all comers since Clement took charge, and that should be no different against Motherwell.

That is not to get ahead of ourselves, but having confidence ahead of games is never a bad thing – and the Gers have a bucketload of that.
