‘Comedy’ – Ally McCoist fumes at two Rangers stars after 2-1 loss v Motherwell

Ally McCoist has singled out Cyriel Dessers and Connor Goldson for criticism after Rangers’ 2-1 defeat to Motherwell at Ibrox on 2 March.

McCoist was critical of both players during the game, taking to his personal X account during the game to express his frustration at their performances.

The defeat means Celtic will have the chance to move back into top spot in the SPFL if they can beat Hearts on 3 March, as they currently sit just two points behind Rangers.

Commenting via X during the game, McCoist first wrote “Cyriel Dessers” with a face-palm emoji, which was quickly followed up by “Comedy Goldson” alongside the same emoji.

Rangers let their SPFL lead slip v Motherwell at Ibrox

Most Rangers supporters at Ibrox will join McCoist, who has previously been critical of this team, in his frustrations at both players given their individual displays and the parts they had to play in a shock home defeat they really should have been winning.

The “comedy” Goldson comment came as a result of the defender’s late miss when presented with a golden opportunity to draw his side level in the 90th minute, as he glanced a header wide for around six yards out.

It was a disappointing display overall from Philippe Clement’s side as the boss suffered his first defeat at Ibrox, with none of the usual regulars at Ibrox able to step up and be counted when the pressure began to mount.

Dessers, meanwhile, saw a return to the sort of form which has earned him plenty of criticism throughout this season, particularly at the beginning of his Ibrox spell, as he proved unable to find the back of the net despite plenty of opportunities falling his way.
