‘Lazy’ – Rangers TV pundit destroys attacker for what he did at FT v Motherwell

Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers has been slammed by Lewis Macleod for being “lazy” during the first half of the Light Blues’ Scottish Premiership showdown with Motherwell.

Philippe Clement’s side suffered a big blow to their title hopes as they were well beaten 2-1 at Ibrox on Saturday (2 March), with James Tavernier’s second-half penalty ultimately counting for nothing.

Despite impressing in recent weeks, Dessers struggled to get too involved in proceedings at the top end of the pitch and former Rangers midfielder Macleod was quick to slam the Nigeria international after he wasted an excellent chance in the first half.

Speaking on RangersTV on Saturday (2 March, 15:37) he said: “It’s lazy from Dessers. He refuses the first pass, but Rangers do well to get the corner.”

Is Cyriel Dessers good enough for Philippe Clement at Rangers?

There was plenty of debate during the January transfer window over whether or not Dessers was good enough to consistently lead the line for Clement and Rangers after an incredibly slow start to his career at Ibrox.

But in recent weeks, the 29-year-old has shown plenty of signs of improvement and has impressed pundits and supporters alike with his goalscoring exploits. However, Saturday’s game showed that he is far from the perfect centre-forward.

Cyriel Dessers has been in good form of late for Rangers.

Having taken an early blow in the opening exchanges, the striker looked ever so slightly off of the pace as he repeatedly wasted half chances in front of goal including the error that left Macleod frustrated in the commentary box.

Hopefully, it was just an off day for the centre-forward and he will be back to his best in the coming weeks, otherwise, the Gers could be made to regret not pushing for a new number during the January transfer window.
