Rangers ready £6m bid to sign striker with 16 goals this season – report

Rangers are readying a €7million (£6million) bid to sign USA striker Haji Wright amid the likely summer exit of Antonio Colak, according to Greek news outlet Transfer Geeks.

Currently playing with Antalyaspor in Turkey, 25-year-old Wright has scored 16 goals in all competitions this season.

And is reportedly the ideal replacement for Colak, who could leave Ibrox this summer despite a fine debut campaign at the club.

“Colak’s departure is becoming more and more likely since Rangers have a striker from the Turkish league on their transfer list for whom they are preparing to submit a very high offer,” according to Transfer Geeks, who specialise in Greek football, where Colak used to play at PAOK.

“This is the American striker of Antalyaspor, Haji Wright, who has scored 16 goals in 26 appearances for the Turkish team this year.

“For the American striker, Rangers are preparing to take €7million from their coffers and together with the €5million proposal they are preparing for the football player of Mars, Luis Palma, it seems that they will have a costly summer, especially for the area of attack.”

More firepower needed

After a disappointing season in all competitions for Rangers, where the club were outclassed by rivals Celtic in various tournaments, Michael Beale has it all to do this summer.

The manager has witnessed various members of staff leave in recent weeks, with several players set to do the same come the summer transfer window.

Some players will leave upon the expiry of their contracts, while others will be forced out by Beale, who will be keen to build a strong squad for next season as soon as possible.

And one area that definitely needs plenty of focus is attack, with the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos looking very likely of leaving Ibrox at the end of the campaign.

After struggling at his previous clubs, Wright has enjoyed his time in Turkey, but whether or not he can cut it in Scotland is another matter entirely.

Perhaps fellow USA international and Rangers loanee Malik Tillman can help bring his compatriot to Ibrox this summer.

In other Rangers news, John Hartson believes one Gers player can count himself lucky to have been included in PFA Scotland’s Team of the Season over Celtic’s Jota.
